Abalone Porridge
Abalone is the most expensive type of shellfish and tastes best in summer. Abalone is famous because the body can easily absorb its nutrients, so it is excellent for the elderly or weak, as well as children. Sliced abalone is roasted in sesame oil and then put in soaked rice.

Broiled Okdom
Everybody who has tasted Okdom once wants to taste it again. It is only caught in the coastal waters of Jeju and Japan . It is called 'Saengseon' or 'Sollani'. Okdom is caught between November and March. It is cut open in the abdomen, dried slightly and brushed with sesame oil. Okdom is good for people with a weak constitution, or for those recovering from illness or injury.

Seonggeguk (Sea Urchin Soup)
Jeju Sea Urchin is violet and its yellow meat is inside found the rind. It is nutritious food, with protein, vitamins and iron. It is known locally as 'Gusal' so we call sea urchin soup 'Gusal' soup. The soup is made by lightly frying the urchin in sesame oil with brown seaweed. Obunjak is then added and the meat turns more yellow and coagulates like uncurled bean. This dish has a delicious light taste.

The Korean Won is the unit of Korean currency. Foreign bank notes and traveler's checks can be converted into Korean Won at banks, foreign exchange teller's offices at the airport and major hotels. Internationally recognized credit cards are accepted at most hotels and shops, restaurants. USD 1.00 is equivalent to KRW 1,036.80 and Euro is KRW 1227.16 (as of 23 November 2005 ).
